MFM-500: FM Modulators

General Description

These units are a cost-effective way to provide FM modulation of baseband video and audio, such as television programming, for your LMDS system. They are designed to interface easily with a Dudley Lab HPTx system transmitter. These units are now in commercial service at Viva-Vision in Caracas, Venezuela, and at TV-Cellular in Valencia, Venezuela. Many other units are in use worldwide, for technology demonstration.

• Ability to modulate NTSC (PAL option) Video of positive or negative polarity
• High-fidelity Audio modulation of 20 Hz to 20 KHz bandwidth
• 18 MHz of bandwidth per channel (20 MHz channel spacing)
• FM modulation for greatest picture & audio quality
• Video Modulation on/off switch on front panel
• 19" rackmount cage holds 12 modulators, converter tray, power supply tray and combiners
• +8 dBm output power per modulator, combined output +0 dBm (+47 dBmV)
• Significant adjustability of frequencies/levels while modulators remain in rack and on line
• RF Test port on front panel for monitoring adjustments (approx. -10 dBm)
• Frequency converter included to convert modulator outputs to 80-540 MHz for system
• Heavy-duty solid-state switching DC power supply is included (120VAC @<2A in, 50/60 Hz)
• Optional tray extension allows access to even more adjustments while on line
